The JLL Property Triathlon North, celebrating it’s 10th year, took place on Friday 29th July at MediaCity UK, Salford Quays, Manchester. The sprint distance triathlon is open to anyone in, or connected to, the property industry.
The JLL Property Triathlon North is the sister event of JLL’s other Property Triathlon and Property Swim which took place at Dorney Lake near Eton on the 1st July 2016.
Two Vikings were taking part in the event. Lorna Watson was taking part in the 2016 event having competed in previous years, and James Goodman took part in a relay team, completing the swim leg of their race.
We caught up with Lorna following the event, to describe the experience to us in a bit more detail:
“The day dawns quite drizzly…usual Salford weather. The ladies had their own wave starting first at 09:30. The swim took place in dock 9 Salford quay right outside the media centre….I did see some Corrie actors …but I digress! The water a barmy plus 20 degree so wetsuit optional, but as you know it isn’t really not an option for me! I stormed the swim in 17:39. There was one lady, who was obviously a Naiomi, did it in around 12! Off to the bike, transition was a bit of a hike…not as much as Leeds but a good 200 metres. But I felt good, really quite damp now and the route was quite slippy. Out and back 5 times, with a few close shaves with cars that can’t read closed signs, but a fairly average time for me. The run, lets gloss over that! It was a flat course but my back was playing up so had to jog and walk. Overall it was a good day and well organised…it’s just a shame it is only open to people in the property industry.”
A great performance from both Vikings, and an event they’ll no doubt take part in over future years! Well done Lorna and James.
